OACCM has no live CME symposia scheduled for 2011 at this time. The symposia listed below are offered by other organizations and are of interest to the critical care community.
Cardiovascular-Thoracic (CVT) Critical Care 2011
Presented in 3 days, Sept. 22, 2011 thru Sept. 24, 2011
Omni Shoreham Hotel. Washington, DC
This 8th annual multi-disciplinary CME conference is dedicated to further advancing knowledge and expertise in the complex field of Cardiovascular-Thoracic (CVT) Critical Care. It is designed to bring together the entire team of health care professionals that provide care for patients undergoing CVT operations and procedures, including now endovascular procedures.
This program was planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) and the Foundation for the Advancement of CardioThoracic Surgical Care (FACTS-Care). The AATS is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Goal-Directed Therapy Symposium
Hemodynamic Optimization in Perioperative and
Critical Care Medicine: From Theory to Practice
June 4 & 5, 2011
Saturday – Sunday
The Balboa Bay Club & Resort,
Newport Beach, California
This unique symposium aims to promote goal-directed therapy (GDT) and
hemodynamic optimization in perioperative and critical care medicine.
Various techniques in GDT improve patient outcomes while decreasing
health-care costs in perioperative and critical care medicine. Experts from
North America and Europe have come together to share their clinical and
scientific experiences in this comprehensive symposium. The lectures
and interactive sessions will provide the rationale for employing GDT in
clinical practice.
At the conclusion of this course participants should be able to:
1. Describe the physiological concepts underlying goal-directed therapy
for hemodynamic management
2. Learn about new techniques used for achieving goal-directed therapy
3. Recognize clinical protocols for goal-directed therapy used in
different leading institutions in the U.S. and in Europe
4. Demonstrate clinical utility of GDT and hemodynamic optimization
using simulation and interactive case presentations
The Office of Continuing Medical Education, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA
designates this educational activity for a maximum of 10.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.
Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in
the activity.
