Virtual Grand Rounds with Dr. Michael Pinsky - Use of the Pulmonary Artery Catheter
Program Description / Statement of Need:
The use of the pulmonary artery catheter has been under scrutiny over the last few years. This session discusses questions around the concerns, interpretation of data, and reasons for not using a PAC and addresses the concerns in a research based fashion. A PAC guided treatment protocol is presented in which to appropriately monitor the critically ill.
Target Audience:
This program has been designed for a multidisciplinary physician and nurse audience including: Emergency Medicine / ICU / Anesthesia / Peri-op / Intensivists / Trauma / Critical Care
Program Objectives:
At the completion of this program the participant will be able to: Cite current research that addresses the following: increased risk of PAC placement, impact on patient outcome, and concerns related to interpretation of data. Delineate the components of a PAC guided treatment protocol.
Accreditation:
This CME activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of The Institute for Medical Studies (IMS) and Med-CE-online.com.
