Munish Goyal, MD
Munish Goyal, MD is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Goyal completed his residency in Emergency Medicine in 2003 and subsequently undertook a Trauma and Critical Care Fellowship at the R Adams Cowley Shock/Trauma Center at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He started the Early Goal-Directed Therapy Program for Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock and the Post-Cardiac Arrest Therapeutic Hypothermia and Resuscitation Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care.
Dr. Goyal has received numerous awards and recognition for his work and leadership. He was selected by the Emergency Medicine residents at the University of Pennsylvania as the "Teacher of the Year" in 2006, has been awarded the "Hero" award from the R Adams Cowley Shock/Trauma Center, and was selected “Resident of the Year” at the completion of his residency. He was recently awarded the 2007 Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Operational Award for Quality and Patient Safety for his work with Post-Cardiac Arrest Resuscitation and Hypothermia.
Dr. Goyal’s research interests involve the implementation of therapeutic hypothermia and goal-directed resuscitation. He has authored over 30 book chapters, published abstracts, and manuscripts. He attends in both the Emergency Department and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and serves as the Co-Director of the Clinical Center for Resuscitation at the University of Pennsylvania.
